Volunteers Needed!
Thank you for your interest in volunteering at the 80th Annual Convention of the National Federation of the Blind of Ohio, taking place November 5–8, 2026 at the University of Dayton, Marriott Hotel, 1414 South Patterson Blvd., Dayton, Ohio 45409.
This year’s convention theme is: “Reflecting Our Journey, Shaping a New Vision: Empowering Members to Inspire the Future”!
We fight to win—breaking down barriers and sustaining our civil rights.
The National Federation of the Blind of Ohio appreciates your participation as a volunteer for our 2026 state convention. Please complete the form below no later than Friday, October 16, 2026.
This will be the largest gathering of blind people in the state. We provide encouragement and motivation to families with blind children, and to people who are losing vision or have become blind later in life. At our convention, we offer resources on accessible technology, employment, Braille, and more!
We are looking for volunteers 18 years of age or older to assist with:
- Helping people find meeting rooms and exhibit areas
- Providing verbal descriptions of the space
- Reading print labels and documents
- Serving as door prize runners
- Assisting with transportation (bus attendants)
- Helping hotel staff with buffet lines
- Acting as “human signs” (e.g., calling out: “Room 300, Exhibit Hall!”)
Volunteer shifts are available:
- Friday, November 6: 9:00 AM – 10:00 PM
- Saturday, November 7 (priority day): 7:30 AM – 10:00 PM
- Sunday, November 8: 7:30 AM – 12:00 PM
We will provide training for you or your group via Zoom or in person, offering practical information, tips, and live demonstrations on how to respectfully and effectively interact with blind individuals and provide meaningful assistance throughout the convention.
We’re looking forward to your participation in changing what it means to be blind.
